The Mayan City of Coba was first inhabited around 100 AD and was eventually abandoned when the Spanish conquered the peninsula around 1550 AD.. Due to its remote location, Coba is not as popular with tourists as other ruins in Mexico; however, the 42 meters (138 feet) pyramid is the only Mayan ruin that you can still traverse. Coba is located 44 km (27 mi) northwest of Tulum, in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Situated on the west side of the Vatnsnes Peninsula (North Iceland) overlooking the small fjord, Miðfjörður, stands the Skardsviti Lighthouse. Built in 1950, the Lighthouse still serves to protect boaters from crashing into the rocky coasts on foggy days.
Wanted to start off 2020 with an image of one of my favorite places on the planet, Kirkjufell (also known as Church Mountain). Peaking at 463 metres (1519 feet) Kirkjufell is an impressive landmark on its own, but add a waterfall to the foreground and you get the the most photographed mountain in Iceland. This image was taken during an afternoon scouting visit in preparation for my sunset shot that evening. Even on an overcast mid-afterrnoon day, this place is just stunning.
