Eastern Gray Timber Wolf

A wider angle view of the Eastern Gray Timber Wolf I came face to face with on the Track and Tower Trail in Algonquin Park. Although I like my other image of the wolf set against a stark snow white background, I think I prefer this image that captures some of the surrounding forest.

Christmas Kitten

Meet Pippen, our Seal Point Kitten. Like most kittens he is quite inquisitive and a tad mischievious. Here he is pictured in one of his newest interests, climbing the Christmas Tree and playing with the ornaments. BTW, Pippen was a rescue cat, and has turned out to be absolutely fantastic.

Algonquin Autumnal Equinox

On the night of the Harvest Moon of the Autumnal Equinox I captured this image of the midnight blue sky set against a series of tall pine trees. On this eve, the moon served at a wonderful backlight to set the scene.

Jökulsárlón Sunset

Captured a young couple (standing on the point center left) enjoying a beautiful sunset at Jökulsárlón. Jokulsarlon is a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. It has developed into a large deep lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. At at over 248 meters (814 ft) deep, Jokulsarlon is now the deepest lake in Iceland.

Young Male Eastern Moose

Photographed this young male Eastern Moose that was roadside having a drink from a small pool of water. After a morning of not seeing much, we spotted him and two other females, on our way out of Algonquin Park (Canada).

Kirkjufell Mountain and Waterfall

In planning my trip to Iceland, Kirkjufell on the northern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, is the one image I most wanted to capture. I planned and setup to capture this image at sunset (around 9:30pm), arriving two hours early to secure the ideal location. Along with about 10 other photographers we waited for the right moment as the light struck the Mounatin illuminating it in a stunning warm glow. As luck would have it, I captured a single person on the hill vieing the sunset, and giving perspective to the scene. Kirkjufell is the most photographed mountain in Iceland, and for good reason. As a side note, beware of the incoming high tides. By the time I left (around 10pm), I had to wade through water to get back to the road.

Sunset Cattail Glow

Captured these beautiful marshland cattails backlit by a warm spring sunset. The natural light striking the feathery seeds of the cattails created such a wonderful soft glow.

Raccoon on the Docks

Captured this inquisitive and playful raccoon poking out from underneather a floating dock up in the Algonquin Highlands (Canada). Raccoons love water and this little guy was no exception to that, as he played in the dock for hours, often looking out to see where I was.

Blue Jay

Captured this puffed up Blue Jay perched on a White Pine Tree branch trying to keep warm on this cold winter's day, near Mew Lake in Algonquin Park (Ontario, Canada). The Jay's pose, the pine cones, and the little bit on snow on the tree branch kind of reminds me of a Christmas Post Card.

Playa Cayo Levantado

A beautiful quiet sunset on the north beach of Cayo Levantado, which is little Island situated just off the East Coast of the Dominican Republic in Samana Bay.

Silfrastaðirkirkja - Church on the Hill

Built in 1896, Silfrastaðirkirkja is an example of much of Iceland's Christian heritage. Beautifully constructed small churches located on stunning landscapes, from coast to coast, in every small community.

Eye of Contemplation

This stunning Icelandic Horse was more than happy to meet my acquaintance as he came right up close to my camera for a little affection. I am always taken back by the gentleness and trusting nature of such large and powerful animals.

Sólfar - Sun Voyage

Sólfar the Sun Voyager, sitting on the Reykjavík waterfront, is a massive steel sculpture by artist Jón Gunnar Arnason. It may resemble a Viking ship, but was it was originally envisaged as dream boat and ode to the sun, based on a spiritual vision by Arnason. Curiously, Arnason was dying of leukaemia at the time the Sun Voyager was being constructed, so some argue that the Sun Voyager may have been viewed as a vessel that transports souls to the realm of death.

Stjórnarfoss Meditation

Just north of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Iceland, the Stjórn River meanders its way over the hills into a canyon, later to become an amazing waterfall known as Stjórnarfoss. As a lesser known location, it's a perfect place to relax and meditate to the calming sounds of the falls. On the far right of the image you can see a traveller enjoying the moment.

Icelandic Horse

The Icelandic Horse is one of the most beautiful and purest breeds of horse in the World. Since 982 AD Iceland has forebade horse imports into the country, and once an Icelandic horse leaves, it is never permitted to re-enter the country. Image taken in Southern Iceland.

Red Fox

Captured this beautiful Red Fox lying down in a forested area in Durham Region, Ontario. His gaze was fixed on a small red squirrel at the base of a nearby tree.
