Sleeping Galapagos Fur Seal

Captured this close-up image of a sleeping Galapagos Fur Seal soaking up some sunshine on the beach in Punta Suarez, Espanola Island, Galapagos. If you look closely you can see a fly on his nose.

Galapagos Marine Iguana

Pictured here is one of the hundreds of Galapagos Marine Iguanas I saw located along the coastline of Playa Baquerizo on San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos. These wild Marine Iguanas are so ignorant of people that you can easily get with feet of them.

Mother's First Egg

Blue-footed Boobies do not construct traditional bird nests, instead the lay their eggs on bare ground. Here, on North Seymour Island in the Galapagos, I was very fortunate to be able capture a close-up image of a mother booby after recently laying her first egg. Unlike most other birds, Blue-footed Boobies do not have a brooding patch (bare skin on their underbelly) to keep their eggs warm. Instead they use their large blue webbed feet to ensure their young are kept well insulated.

Curious Nazca Booby

One of the three species of Boobies in the Galapagos, I captured this inquisitive male Nazca Booby looking right at me while on Darwin Beach, Genovesa Island.

Hood Mockingbird

Endemic to Espanola Island (Galapagos), I captured this fearless Hood Mockingbird singing a beautiful tune. The Hood Mockingbird is the only species of Galapagos mockingbird that Charles Darwin did not see or collect on the voyage of the Beagle.

Pacific Fiery Sky

We had just left Kicker Rock, about 2 hours off the coast of San Cristobal Island in the Pacific Ocean, when we were presented with this stunning fiery red sky. The darkness in lower background is low lying cloud cover (not land), and yes that is what the sky actually looked like that night.
