Templo del Dios del Viento - Tulum

Situated on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico stands the Mayan Ruin, Templo del Dios del Viento (Temple of the Wind God). This was one of the more challenging images I have ever taken as I blew out my knee getting down to the base of the cliff to capture this image (knee surgery 9 months later). I did get the shot though.

Roman Colosseum

Captured this different perspective of the Roman Colosseum from the House of the Vestals. Of all the images I have seen of this famous world heritage site, I have seen very few from this vantage point.

Seydisfjordur

If you visit only one location in the Eastfjords of Iceland, it should be the picturesque village of Seydisfjordur which surrounds Fjarðará Lagoon. Nestled between the snowcapped mountains and cascading waterfalls from Mt. Bjólfur (1085m) and Strandartindur (1010m), this tranquil little village offers a wonderful atmosphere for explorers to enjoy. While here you should check out Kaffi Lára El Grillo Bar which is located on Regnboga Vegur (Rainbow Road).

Coba - Mayan City

The Mayan City of Coba was first inhabited around 100 AD and was eventually abandoned when the Spanish conquered the peninsula around 1550 AD.. Due to its remote location, Coba is not as popular with tourists as other ruins in Mexico; however, the 42 meters (138 feet) pyramid is the only Mayan ruin that you can still traverse. Coba is located 44 km (27 mi) northwest of Tulum, in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Vík í Mýrdal

Captured here around 10pm is the picturesque village of Vík í Mýrdal. Vik is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on Route 1 around 180 km (110 mi) southeast of Reykjavík, on the coast of the northern Atlantic Ocean. Home to several amazing sites that should top your list while visiting Iceland, Vik is a definite must see destination.

Liberty Enlightening the World?

Image of the iconic Statue of Liberty during stormy times. On Lady Liberty her inscription reads “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Winter Camping

I was driving home from Algonquin Park on a snowy cold January day when something captured my attention. In the midst of an area completely covered and surrounded by snow and ice, was this red tent that stood out in stark contrast. Winter camping at its extreme.

Sunset at Fríkirkjan í Reykjavík

Captured this reflection image of Fríkirkjan í Reykjavík Church and The National Gallery of Iceland on Lake Tjörnin, as sunset cast a warm glow in downtown Reykjavík. Standing In the background is the landmark church Hallgrimskirkja.

Reykjavik Cityscape

Reykjavik is one of the most colourful and picturesque cities I have had the opportunity to visit. Captured here is the beautiful Cityscape of North Reykjavik with Mount Esja and the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop. Taken from outdoors observation deck on top of the Perlan (The Pearl).

Icelandic Salmon Fishing

Just south of Barnaborg on the Western Peninsula of Iceland, I came across a solitary man peacefully Salmon Fishing on the Hitara River.

Sólfar - Sun Voyage

Sólfar the Sun Voyager, sitting on the Reykjavík waterfront, is a massive steel sculpture by artist Jón Gunnar Arnason. It may resemble a Viking ship, but was it was originally envisaged as dream boat and ode to the sun, based on a spiritual vision by Arnason. Curiously, Arnason was dying of leukaemia at the time the Sun Voyager was being constructed, so some argue that the Sun Voyager may have been viewed as a vessel that transports souls to the realm of death.

Brooklyn Bridge Cable-Stayed Suspension

Built in 1870, the famous cable-stayed suspension Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States. The Bridge was very first steel-wire suspension bridge, and was constructed to connect Manhattan to Brooklyn. Image taken from a ferry on the East River.

Altare della Patria

The Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland), also known as Il Vittoriano, is Rome's largest monument. Build bewteen 1885 and 1925 it was built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II, the first King of a unified Italy.

The Carnival Legend

Captured a rare occurance of a Cruise Ship, the Carnival Legend, travelling in the very narrow passage of Tracy Arm Fjords, south of Juneau, Alaska. On this particular late July day, it was the first time in the season a cruise ship could safely enter the 30 Mile passage.
